The Money Links

I've been keeping my eye on Mark over at 45n5.com who this year has set about recording a video on his blog almost every day. An interesting concept and certainly a big commitment, I don't know if the idea is a success - there are times when you notice that the content or topic isn't extremely solid, probably due to the fact that Mark has to raise a new point each day.

However, his video recently about Blog Competitions and prizes was quite a good one. I couldn't agree more - it seems like every 2nd blog is running a competition to draw in readers. And they make you jump through so many hoops, you may as well employ a sidekick for $2 an hour to help you qualify. Things like having to do a 'post about the comp', make 10 comments here, add 12 of my secret RSS feed letters and multiply it by 2000 then take away 2.

All too much. Total waste of time. Spend the time creating content or maybe promoting your blog on social networking or similar sites.
