The first secret ingredient of the 30 Day Challenge has been released; the 'Tumblr Blog' apparently is well liked by Google and in lab testing by the search engine team over at the 30 Day Challenge when compared to blogs from Blogger (Google), Wordpress and Squidoo - a blog from the Tumblr domain is apparently the best to get ranked quicker and with more 'authority' within Google.
The art of picking the best ingredients to get listed in Google quickly and effectively is certainly a black magic. Not to be confused with black hat SEO - by black magic I mean, the rules aren't known (as Google don't let on) so with plenty of trial and error - on a playing field where the goal posts are being moved almost daily; things can get tough.
In testing the power of the tumblr blog and is attractiveness to Google - I setup 3 near identical blogs. A tumblr blog, a Blogger.com blog and a Squidoo Blog. After creating these test blogs; throwing up a quick few paragraphs of my own content - I then submitted them each to social networking outlets. (Digg, Netscape and Stumble) I then continued to monitor the domain in Google regularly;
here are the results:
1. Blogger.com Blog: 39 minutes until listed and ranked on Google.com
2. Squidoo.com Blog: 8 hours until listed and ranked on Google.com
3. Tumblr Blog 24 hours until listed and ranked on Google.com
Now this little test is not to disprove the guys at the 30 Day Challenge. Heck - Ed Dale, Dan Raine and the boys are all successful and have some talented propeller heads at their disposal - and this is only 'listing and initial ranking testing' In the following weeks; we may see a change in authority from either of these Blogging vendors and how the Google search engine sees them (similar to what happened when Squidoo got slapped by Google recently)
How has everyone found the Tumblr.com Blog in terms of getting Google listed?

Tumblr have decided that they don't want any blogs with 'how to' in the wording and have deleted as many 30DC blogs as they can and also deleted many older blogs that were doing well.
Most internet companies would welcome such recognition, not Tumblr who called these people names I would not rewrite here.
As far as I am concerned this is one company that has never heard the words Information Super Highway but prefer to play with their friends and their toys alone.
No one is going to make them an offer for their business, they don't have one.
I can't tell you how much I hate Tumblr.
If you decid you want to begin blogging and only want a platform that you can mainly only throw text on, then Tumblr may be for you.
However, be sure to keep in mind that the creators have made it virtually impossible for any flexability when you want to edit or work with photos. The rich text editor (its because of Wordpress) is horrible. It completely strips your HTML.
And, there is basically no help if you have any questions on how to do something. You're basically on your own.
I don't know what the hype about Tumblr is. It is not user friendly at all. It's like the people who created it marketed it to sound really great. But just stopped there. There hasn't been any new development on it for months.
A horrible service so far from what I can see. The creators really need to do a lot more developing.
I switched to Blogger after bad experiences with Tumblr and it only took 1 hour for my blog to get listed. it took days with Tumblr.
Stay away from Tumblr if you are serious about blogging and want an interface that you have a lot of control over.
