Free to Air Satellite

Spent most of today looking into getting free to air satellite over here in New Zealand. After relocating from Australia a few months ago I have been missing out on some of my favourite programs and am keen to see some of my home countries TV programming!

I found out on the weekend that it's possible to pickup some of the Australian Channels through some free to air satellite services being transmitted from the Optus D1 Satellite over Asia Pacific. (Hint; for all your satellite needs visit Lyngsat.com a great free resource that covers satellites all over the world - you might be surprised how many free channels you can pickup in your country!)

Anyway, I will be purchasing a Hyundai hss760a model receiver and once hooked up to my 43cm standard receiver dish I should be getting some free channels, around 7 or so free channels which isn't too bad.

It seems there is a whole world of satellite programming for TV that doesn't cost - I am looking forward to investigating some more! :)
