Setup a Free Link Directory Script

I must thank Caroline Middlebrook for the motivation for this one, after she released her free eBook on Wordpress and setting up niche sites - I decided to use her tips and setup one of my dormant domains with a cool new script.

A domain I had sitting around was www.bestbacklinks.info which I have always wanted to setup a Link Directory for. Seeing as I am already using BlueHost for the hosting - I thought heck, with Carolines tips I could maybe launch a script without having to use Fantastico.

Hmmm I can't believe I actually got this going. After setting the domain up as an addon domain, I searched the web and found a cool free link directory script program. cpLinks is the program, totally free - just need to throw in a backlink to the makers.

After some slight teething problems around setting up the SQL database and getting the FTP login rights working - it really wasn't too hard and in around 1 hour I finally had a Link Directory site up. It still needs some tweaking and customizing - but hey, if I can do this anyone can. Seriously, I am very new to wordpress and Bluehost and yeah, it's pretty straight forward.

Caroline's ebook is a really good source of information, from newbies right through to folks who have played with AdSense and are trying to milk some dollars here and there. Try it risk free, well worth the read.
