Google PageRank Drops January 2008

I'm not sure if anyone else has had similar changes, but I have seen Google PageRank drops right across my blogroll. (Hopefully it's not from my recent SEO tests!) Anyway, across all of my blogs including my NRL News Rugby League blog I have seen Google PageRank drops from 5 to 4, and some of my smaller sites have gone from PR3's down to 2's and 1's.

Has their been a recent toolbar update?

Is it getting harder to achieve better PR these days?

I have been updating my blogroll quite regularly, I also had a concern that potentially too much AdSense display may be harming some of the websites and Google may be clamping down on some of these. It would be ideal if Google did start providing a feedback email or something similar to explain why the PR change was incurred - it may assist everyone in keeping to the rules and not blurring the white hat / black hat lines.

I am not on your roll but I went from 3 to 0. Oh well. It's not like it means anything to me anyway. I don't know why I was penalized and actually I don't care. I am getting some good quality traffic and people are leaving comments. I guess that's all that matters right?

Hey Pappa,

Exactly, if you're still getting (and building) good traffic and getting good feedback - sounds fine to me!

Thanks for commenting.
