Lets meet the real Jim Kukral

When it comes to internet marketing entrepreneurs there aren't too many bigger than Jim Kukral. A well respected veteran in online circles, Kukral regularly speaks and chairs some of the biggest industry events on offer.

In the blogging game since 2001, Kukral knows how to do things right and has built up a well deserved and healthy following at his blog Jim Kukral dot Com.

Recently launching the ScratchBack dot com (Top Spots) venture, which is in use here at the 30 Day Man blog it certainly seems like Kukral has some positive projects cooking at present. The simplicity and attraction of ScratchBack is impressive, aiding bloggers to get revenue from an easily installed and navigated top list is truly a great concept. A platform that made the transaction simple for both parties was always going to work.

The thing about Jim Kukral is that he displays a certain charm not found in many of the industry leaders currently gracing us with their presence. Many other bloggers, entrepreneurs and industry players like to play the 'too cool for school' card and really give off an arrogant feel. You simply can't help but like Kukral and his down ot earth style; this is obviously a reason that so many are already keeping in touch with Jim via his addictive blog.

When you run your eye over the content at Jim Kukral dot com, you'll see plenty to delve into. From YouTube video scraping, motivation, widget chat and interesting marketing tid bits - true marketing content is something these days can be hard to find with so many pretenders taking center stage.

Personally I would have no hesitation in throwing Jim Kukral's name into the realms with the likes of Ed Dale and Joel Comm - two online marketers that earned my respect some time ago. Jim it's great to have met you and I look forward to seeing continuing quality content coming out this way!

Download and Convert Online Video Smartly

When I want to download YouTube, Revver or similar videos for local storage, I usually set about hunting down a web based .FLV service that will scrape and send the file to me in the obscure format. There are tonnes of basic free downloaders out there, just google the term 'download youtube videos' and you will see heaps.

However, I have finally found a decent service that not only will download YouTube or any online video, but it converts on the fly and gives you the movie in virtually any format you want. ZamZar.com is the website, well worth bookmarking and they also offer video format conversion for your own videos - so you can upload your stuff and get it converted.

Its a free service, they obviously run some adverts around the site to monetize it - and you will receive the downloaded or converted file in your email inbox in less than a minute. Too easy!

They also offer a premium service where you get faster scraping and conversion, online storage and the option to convert massive files up to 1GB in size.

Very very handy! Bookmark this lil' puppy today.

Can only Techies make it big in blog?

When you look at the most successful blogs online today, there is a common theme I find in all of them. All the authors have strong technical backgrounds and are able to relate this to their blog.

Not just in terms of content, but by being able to customize their placement, create custom widgets or modify features that don't suit. It's certainly a handy background to have, it not only helps your blog stand out, but gives you a unique feel and also provides a good springboard and respect factor when it comes time to talk about particular techie subjects.

Do you think you need to be a true techie to give your blog an edge in blog land? Sure, you can always hire some help to get around technical situations, but there lies a problem where you must convey your idea to another and have them create your thoughts... Not as smooth as doing it yourself.

To simplify it even more, if you saw a true bare bones blog (ie - no theme, design, banner or anything) just great content in raw text. Would you still be drawn to it? Do you need the flair and technical skills to get a head start?

I'd love to hear peoples thoughts on this!

Have fun with Radar!

Ever wanted to know how fast your car was going? Or maybe your mates car? Well, the truth can be told! With consumer radar gun technology you can get your hands on affordable and accurate radar technology to use with your cars, sports such as tennis, baseball or cricket or even your R/C toys!

For an awesome range of sports radar guns checkout RadarGunSales.com - I already have a few ideas as to how I would start using these little guns; like the next time my wife tells me I am driving too fast - I will just hand her the gun, ask her to jump out of the car and I'll say "Well, you can check me with the radar gun!"

But seriously, there are a tonne of applications where it would be handy to have this sports radar gun technology. Whether you are encouraging your kids with a certain sport, measuring speed is always a good way of helping them! Or don't forget, improve your own golf game by measuring your swing and ball speed. You get piece of mind knowing the gear is all made in the US and comes with comprehensive warranties; plus you get free shipping within the continental US.

With affordable pricing this technology is within easy reach. Model pricing ranges from upwards of $100 US - so get your hands on this cool technology today.

Nintendo Wii goes Virtual Reality

Here's a video clip that simply blew me away. A creative techie by the name of Johhny Lee has devised a way to 'reverse' the technology with the Nintendo Wii to allow a 3D / Virtual Reality style interaction with the new home console.

By reversing the Nintendo Wii setup; ie: setting the Wii remote near the TV and facing it towards the console user and then mounting the Wii remote sensor with the console user (on your head / hat or with some custom glasses) you essentially get a VR feel with the addition of some cool software.

The reversed setup is simply a switch of the Wii Remote and the Wii Sensor, and the addition of a PC and some software. As the Johhny Lee says; "Come on Nintendo Wii Developers! Lets get some software rolling off the shelves that can use this technology." Check out the embedded video below; it's awesome stuff:

Top Spots Competition

In comes the Top Spots widget and out goes the TTZ Media banner. Sadly, the TTZ Affiliate program wasn't quite what I had hoped. I found the statistics package to be very inconsistent and continued display bugs were hampering the promotion of the products with TTZ.

With the new Top Spots, I have set the widget up to accept $5 dollar payments for a position on the leaderboard for a time period of 1 month. Approval is immediate after a PayPal transfar. Listings in the Top Spots Leaderboard are also 'image based' giving you ultimate exposure.

For the first person that signs up for a Top Spot position here at 30 Day Man; I will offer a complete blog review and also offer a permanent (lifetime) backlink from this PageRank4 site.

So click here to get your position as Top Gun and receive some included goodies!

Too much blog advice sux

You've got the most power tool at your fingertips! Yep, the computer you're using right now can give you virtually any information on any topic. So as a blogger, you have no excuse for not becoming an instant millionaire right?

Well, sometimes too much of a good thing aint too good.

If you're like me, you've got a tonne of blogs on your RSS subscribed list and most of the time they are all singing from a similar tune book. Thing likes "Make your blog unique!" "Run a competition" "Content is King" "Linkbait your arse off" "Say a prayer each night for your blog" "Don't drink and blog"

We are lucky to have advice and tips at our fingertips sure. But, continually reading all this information can throw you in too many different directions.

I still stay a vital component of the major successful blogs is the personality factor. Whether they deliver the personality through text, video or still photo - it doesn't matter. If the reader 'warms' to you then they will come back to see what you ate for breakfast, who your dating or who you're firing.... You get the drift.

Maybe I should title my theory "Reality Blogging" or maybe Web3.0 - you get the drift!.

As Nike says; "Just Blog it!"

2007 Review, Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! As 2007 is coming to an end, I thought I would look back over my first year in blogging and mention the major points in whats been an interesting journey!

March 2007: Start blogging with my first sports blog NRL News. A daily blog discussion on Rugby League, launched on the Blogger.com platform I would soon after register my own domain www.NRLnews.com

April 2007: My NRL website begins to get a decent amount of hits. Mostly direct hits (non-search engine traffic) So I implement AdSense and was able to make $5 a day from this website.

June 2007: After enjoying on-going AdSense revenues, I decided to expand my blogroll and create several other sites that would bring in additional income from AdSense. So DOTA Tips was born, dedicated to the Warcraft 3 game - DOTA. What started as a very basic blog, now receives over 700 unique hits per day and brings in impressive AdSense dollars and also is an affiliate earner through Azoogle Ads.

July 2007: Google awards my sites new PageRanks. NRL News now becomes a PageRank5, DOTA Tips becomes PageRank 2 and several of my 'throw away' blogs get PageRank. (6 blogs received PageRank 3 or below which was a surprise)

August 2007: Doctor tells me I have 30 days to live. I sign on for Ed Dale's 30 Day Challenge (www.thirtydaychallenge.com) and I have proved all the doctors wrong. I live happily and healthy 4 months on. The 30 Day Man (this blog) is born.

September 2007: My true introduction to the blogging world. I discover the likes of Problogger, Shoemoney, John Chow and countless others. I start using an RSS reader daily and upgrade my goals on what the earning potentials are of my blogroll.

October 2007: The 30 Day Man armed with a PageRank 4 starts signing RSS subscribers. Approaching 40 subscribers.

November 2007: Total blogroll earnings over $10 a day now ($70US per week) and the future is exciting. RSS readers hit 50 and Tyler Cruz dot com reviews The 30 Day Man on his popular personal blog.

December 2007: Through additional promotions such as EntreCard and some SEO Experiments - 30 Day Man's hits approach 200 uniques per day.

And guess what? I am still alive and kicking. Proving all those doctors wrong.

Thanks for visiting and I look forward to seeing everyone again next year. Merry Christmas!

EntreCard interest and competitions abound

The buzz around recent blog widget and web startup 'EntreCard' continues; the interest in the new program now reaching new heights through competitions and 'chain programs' launched by bloggers to increase their credits and gain exposure of their blogs.

One interesting promotion being run is a 'tag' system, where a group of entrecard users simply tag each other and consistently drop cards on each others blogs; achieving credits and a higher advertising rating for each blog involved.

Over at the
Saphrym blog several little promotions are being run and its an interesting twist on the EntreCard system; certainly several of the ideas have potential to give many blogs additional free exposure when done right. It was nice to find the Saphrym blog through EntreCard, such is the advantage of the card drop system. As soon as I saw the smooth lines of the impressive template and caught some of the good content - it was an easy choice to throw such a blog into my RSS subscriber list; this is the major pulling point for EntreCard - it gets people to your blog and if you've got a good formula; you'll get readers for life.

On the back of the EntreCard sharing techniques and systems several bloggers are running competitions featuring decent prizes that might include the entrecard credits themselves and some cold hard cash too. These little comps are the way to go to drive traffic and backlinks to blogs and usually prove successful in getting visitors to the site in question! You can check out one of the major giveaways
here, once again a feature of the Saphrym blog

He-Man brings brings back memories

My little girl is a bit of a YouTube fan at only 1 and a half years old. She will beg me to put on the Wiggles clips, maybe Hi-5 or something kid related - YouTube has them all.

So this morning when we jumped on the PC to being up the usual suspects, I thought about searching for a few cartoons from when I was a kid. Yep, there was Tom and Jerry, Smurf's and one of my favorites - He-Man and the Masters of the Universe!

However, this He-Man clip was a total spoof, it had me crying with laughter and my little daughter loved it too - win win! Check out the embedded video below:

PayPerPost and AdSense don't mix

Got an interesting rejection message from PayPerPost earlier this week; it seems they weren't too happy about my new Google Adsense placement after each blog post.

They are now refusing to pay my posts where AdSense follows the article!

This is a pain in the butt really, because my AdSense CTR ratio has been much better since placing the AdSense after each post and the other benefit is that it doesn't distract the user from my blog content until after they have finished reading!

Hmmmm ... so it looks like either Google or PPP will have to go; I am not sure which one I will kill off yet. But with TTZ Media getting removed shortly, I might need to have an overall advert rethink.

John Chow SEO Experiment Update

Here is an update on my John Chow SEO Experiment;

After targeting the keyword; "John Chow" and spending some time building backlinks I have now only moved into the top 50 results for John Chow, however the interesting side effect was my Google ranking for the term keyword John Chow Graphs!

I have moved from outside the top 10, into 6th position for John Chow Graphs which is interesting and I suppose more time is required to boost rankings on the John Chow main keyword. Being such a competitive keyword in organic terms - at least a month or more will be needed to see some decent results I think.

Hey, help me out with some backlinks! :) Write a blog post and link to either this post or the toplevel domain: www.aimsgraz.org

In other news, I think that I will be removing John Chow's TTZ Media banner on the left. I have felt the statistics engine with the TTZ system is way off the mark and continued problems with the display of some advertisements isn't ideal. I think I will be setting up more affiliate programs on the left hand side of this blog in the next week.

As Christmas approaches, I hope to keep my posting levels up and I wish you and your family a happy and prosperous time over the festive season.

Chowmoney - Hilarious!

Did you know that Shoemoney and John Chow have a child to each other?

I found this site totally by accident tonight when I was doing some link building for my blogroll. The site is called "ChowMoney" and has the domain chowmoney.com - a totally crazy concept that some freak has put together.

A spoof of super bloggers Shoemoney and John Chow - this site had me in tears. Some crazy cat has morphed a photo of both Shoemoney and John Chow and claimed he is their illegitimate child.

Look it's too hard to explain anymore, just go and have a look and read down over a few of the posts. Seriously, crazy funny stuff right there. Hilarious!

Money makes Money

I'm sure you've heard it before; "Money makes Money!"

And it certainly has a lot of truth to it.
When I got started in websites, I was always trying to turn a profit without outlaying any capital at all. While keeping costs down is smart, there comes a time when you need decent finance behind you to kick things along.

I've used various forms of finance in the past, from my credit union (basic personal loans) through to more recently using an online company for fast finance to grow my businesses. While the interest rate from the credit union was low, the approval process and red tape took a long time; which isn't ideal. When using online companies for loans it was the opposite, the approval process was much quicker - although I had to put up with a slightly higher rate of interest.

The injection of cash allowed me to arrange new PPC campaigns and setup 'real world' advertising for some of my websites. My NRL site, which talks about Rugby League benefited extremely well from a roadside advertising campaign in Australia. I used the finance to hire a signwriter and billboard company to setup some effective road side advertising signage.

Targeting morning and afternoon peak hour road traffic I got a massive response and a lot of my new web visitors became regular visitors - boosting my loyalty rates big time on Google Analytics.

The result? It simply meant more site traffic and with my boosted visitor stats in hand, I could approach advertisers directly for my site. During the winter months in the southern hemisphere, I have regular sporting outlets advertising their real world stores through my NRL Rugby League website.
The income from this is several hundred times higher than what I earn with AdSense during the off-season. It's a no-brainer.

So my point here is; don't be scared to take advantage of finance and
loans where possible. Maybe using mortgages might be a bit extreme, but certainly fast finance and unsecured loans are effective. Borrow to boost your interner empire, the risk is worth the rewards.

Proof that Content isnt always King

Don't always believe the old saying 'Content is King!' when it comes to promoting your blog. As soon as I focused more on promotion and slightly less on content, I have seen MORE hits and MORE earnings from my blogs.

I had heard it from so many corners of the internet, that good content will win you visitors in the end. I was spending too much time trying to create pristine content (or I hoped it was!); but ultimately the content was being read.

I finally saw the light when I read a post on the John Chow blog on December 9th titled 'The Art of the Ramp'. In this post, John Chow spoke of how his Digg promotion tactics and overall promotion strategies boosted his blog to the top of the heap and Chow openly said his content had little or nothing to do with the success. After reading this, I went about some promotion on Digg, StumbleUpon and some minor Facebook assaults.

Here is a graph of the traffic results:
Apologies for the poor quality image, but you can see prior to the first arrow my traffic was low with an occasional spike.

In the red circle is the blog traffic since I have focused more on promotion. Not only have hits increased and stayed at a higher level, but my RSS count has increased too. (Thanx John Chow, I may not be Lord of the Digg - but this improvement is good!)

The benefits have also helped in my earnings department as well. My AdSense account runs across my BlogRoll so the stats are slightly skewed in terms of just the 30DayMan.com focus; but anyway - prior to my promotion and repositioning of the AdSense Ads into the posts (Thanks
John Chow Graphs dot Com!) I was earning around 10 or 11 dollars a week from AdSense.

This has now increased and is now approaching $20 dollars a week (see graph below), a goal I want to achieve by the end of January 2008. (It should be achievable with my
NRL News and DOTA Allstars sites getting decent facelifts soon and forums implemented to capitalize on their 300+ unique hits a day.

I must also add that EntreCard has helped push my stats up, and in the next week or so I will look to explore Sphinn in more detail to extract some results.

Also high on my hit list is improving on Technorati, after reading
this post on the Bloggin-Ad's site I am trying to leverage the pyramid scheme on offer to boost Technorati love. :) Feel free to check the post out, it's a great system to boost your blog in the eyes of the big T.

You can always add me to your Technorati Favorites directly by clicking the following link below:
http://technorati.com/faves?sub=addfavbtn&add=http://www.aimsgraz.org

* In a quick update, my Facebook experiment is friggin' rocking! I am around the 200 friends mark and getting really good interest among the targeted niche. Folks in the niche are noticing me and adding ME to their friends list because of the amount of friends and groups I am connected to. (I haven't even started promoting or marketing the profile yet, simply completed signup and started adding friends!) (More info soon in a full post)

Who IS this bald guy?

I've been wondering for ages, "Who the fuck is this bald guy on the left that I keep seeing everywhere in the blogging world!?!"

Talk about saturation marketing, it got to the point where I had to visit his blog to find out what the hell it was all about.

In marketing speak, it's well known that a picture or face does wonders for your campaigns. People in the marketplace quickly associate and relate to a photo.

Well it fucking worked this time! Have a look at this bald guy, he's got the daddy cool glasses going on and has a sly, smirky sort of scrunched up feature on his face!

It turns out, the guy runs a 'Travel Blog' and his name is Neil Duckett. Heck, this guy has just got a free plug from me! Got a nice site layout, some great pics and what seems to be some good content.

But seriously what a magic campaign! I can see from his Alexa stats that he is growing the blog well and posting his ugly face on sites like John Chow which has certainly helped his cause too. He has also pimped out EntreCard well, as his effective mugshot appears in the top listings under the travel section.

So lesson learned blog kiddies, develop a logo or brand (a face works well, no matter how ugly!) and saturate the marketplace. It will eventually get the traffic to your site at least once, then you gotta fight hard to keep it coming back!

Webhosting, No More Excuses!

With so many cost effective options available to bloggers and website owners these days, choosing a webhost can be a little daunting!

So much has changed, we can get our hands on decent, robust hosting and all for seriously low prices. How do you decide? Do you pick based on location? Maybe you have a referral or coupon, or maybe you just follow the lead of your favorite blogger?

Either way; things just got a whole lot easier. Some cool cat has just come up with the idea for a web hosting directory service. You visit the directory, check out a whole range of web hosting options available and pick based on the recommendations and referrals! Too easy.

So now things are so much easier, you have no excuse to get your blog off that free hosting or blogger service and switch to full blown web hosting!

The John Chow SEO Experiment

As the "Google" vs "John Chow" battle continues, I thought I would come up with a little SEO experiment of my own to see if I could wade into this battle and feature in a high organic listing in Google for the John Chow keyword.

After consistent Google crack downs on link trading and shady schemes, John Chow's site was one of many victims who copped a heavy slap from Google in the past 12 - 18 months and his site was eventually pushed way down the pecking order for his own name. Search "John Chow" and you'll see JC is 5th or 6th page in.

A similar example (probably even more dramatic) happened to a friend of Chow's. Ades
Tynyshov, a blogger that previously featured an extremely high Google PageRank of 8 - was burnt badly, after he abused the PageRank and setup several batches of dodgy link trading schemes. Having such high PR gave this guy enormous power. At the time, everyone from advertisers to readers of his blog wanted in on the action that Tynyshov had, high PR is valuable. But after flaunting the power and even ripping off eager readers on promised backlinks - the big Google caught up with the small time blogger and have reduced his PR to a paltry 2 as it stands today.

But back to Chow, John Chow certainly doesn't need any help from Google. His blog attracts tonnes of users each and every day (John smartly promoted using other avenues; not just Google), so organic search results don't have a major baring on John Chow like others. Just like Mark over at 45n5.com always says, build your websites as if Google or the seach engines weren't there! Build relationships with fellow bloggers, build your RSS count and advertise where possible. Dont rely on organic search alone!

The keyword, 'John Chow' doesn't actually get a lot of search volume on Google which was surprising. Funnily enough, when you search 'John Chow' on Google you will see that good ol' Cow (John Cow dot Com) appear in the top spot. Yup, those freaky freaks over at JohnCow.com are holding top spot on the John Chow keyword search. Misunderstood genuis those guys I tell you!

Man, all these Chows and Cow's are making me dizzy. Both JC's too! Scary little religious connections there ..... OOooooooooh!

Anyway, I will see about getting this particular post optimized and target the John Chow keyword to see how far I can climb up the Google results. If my little SEO experiment gets off the ground and I am able to achieve a decent Google search listing (Top 5);

Why you must use EntreCard on your site

I really did resist at first, the thought of another new widget 'EntreCard' just didn't get me excited. Many widgets promise huge amounts of traffic, unlimited exposure and the chance to be the next internet god. Even after the big guns such as ProBlogger, Tyler Cruz, John Chow and his friendly Cow got involved - I STILL resisted this new startup - EntreCard.

How wrong I was.

It seems this latest idea from Graham Langdon (the guy behind the Million Dollar Wiki) is a concept the actually works.

Put simply, if you display the widget on your site, fellow bloggers are encouraged to visit and drop their business card or 'entrecard' on your widget - gaining you credits. The earned credits allow you to advertise on selected widgets in the blogging community.

My initial thoughts were that bloggers would simply go spastic and card drop everywhere to build their credits up (something I considered just to boost my cred's) however, it's almost impossible not to take notice of some of the cool blogs out there.

After signing up to EntreCard, I was smashed by a wave of users wanting to advertise and were dropping their cards at my site. As I started visiting blogs to approve advertisers and drop my own card - I stumbled on some great blogs and top content. I began subscribing to quite a few blogs I had now discovered.

It seems the same has happened to others, my traffic has seen an extra 100+ hits per day and my RSS subscribers have gone above 50 now which is nice too.

So if you were only considering EntreCard, certainly give it a go. It will get you the traffic you crave, provided you have a decent 125x125 widget and good descriptions for your blog in the EntreCard profile.

It's been said before, that 'networking' with your fellow bloggers is a big key to success and boosting your blog. This still rings true, only now you have EntreCard as another vehicle to help you achieve this.

Go for it, you and your bad self could be getting a stack of traffic before you know it.

Mention Facebook get More Blog Traffic

As my quest continues to build a large and useful fake Facebook profile, one advantage I hadn't counted on was the amount of new traffic that posts about my Facebook experiment would bring to this blog.

My first post about my Facebook plans brought a 300 percent increase in traffic
, it seems quite a bit of that new traffic came from the Blogrush widget. So as a link bait topic, Facebook certainly seems to do the trick. The rest of the traffic increase came from various social bookmarking services.

By the time I posted my second article and update on the Facebook experiment I was conducting, I had a handful of new RSS readers and this second article again brought another spike in traffic.

Very interesting.

Certainly a buzzword of the moment, mentioning Facebook won't do you any harm at all. In terms of my experiment, I have well surpassed 100 Facebook friends with my fake account and I have had 90% of people I approach accept my friendship request. While this is a good thing for me and my marketing plans, it does raise a few questions about Facebook security. Are people being too trusting, so much so that Facebook might head straight down the MySpace path? A path where spammers, stalkers and predators now lurk and thrive?

While what I am doing with Facebook isn't exactly abiding by the TOS, it can't be categorized as spamming. I am targeting a particular niche of users, they are then giving me their permission to interact with them and they can stop receiving correspondence from me at any time!

And finally I have registered the domain
30DayMan.com - much easier to remember and something I have been meaning to do for a while. With my RSS count going past 50, it seemed a perfect time to secure and setup the correct domain name!

Best Xmas Geek Toy: RC Helicopters

These mini RC Helicopters appeal to the geek inside all of us! I'm already trying to work out how I can pass this toy off as suitable for my little 14 month old girl, naturally a girl of this age would love a remote control helicopter (this is what I have been telling my wife anyway). The best part about this ultimate geek toy for Xmas is that it's well under $20 which is ideal.

Check out this embedded video of the RC Helicopter in action:

I tracked the standard single RC Chopper down on Amazon for $11.99 with some stock remaining. There are also tonnes of other models, you can pay a bit extra and get a Military Style RC Helicopter which is slightly larger and a little bit heavier (which might actually survive some outdoor conditions, such as light wind) but there are also Spinmaster: Dogfighting RC helicopters where you can dogfight with a friend and an invisible shot that hits the target will cause the victim to lose power or go into a tail spin! Very cool! Geek heaven for Xmas!

Making a Million on Facebook Update

I'm just about to head into the city for the work Xmas party, but I thought I would post some stats from my Million Dollar Facebook Experiement:

Day 1: Setup Complete Fake Profile (that looks super real and believable!) Approached 50 Random Friends (through FB groups)(I won't mention the groups yet, don't want to scare anyone)
Time Taken 1 hour or less (Even with initial unverified catchpha on every add) I have now verified the fake account to a pre-paid cell number, so add's are much quicker.

Results: 32 people have accepted the friend request, even though they didn't know me. I can't actually see the failure rate yet as many I have approached haven't been online in the alst 24 hours to accept the requests.

Day 2: I will add another 50 people later tonight, if I am not too drunk. (Last time I went out on the town it ended in tears with my Nokia 6680 phone being stolen, you know the story!

Results: In tomorrow (if I am not too hung over!) - I realistically can see this 'Facebook account' having over 100 targeted friends within 48 hours.

And before I leave here's something very random! An embedded video to get me in the frame of mind for tonight. An oldie but a goodie, it's Infinity by Guru Josh (1990's Time for the Guru)

AbtElectronics has got it right

Buying goods online is becoming more and more online, especially electrical style goods. With the growth of sites like eBay and various other bargain based online stores and promotions - buying goods off the internet is very commonplace.

What is slow emerging on top of this trend, is a 'back to the future' of sorts as buyers look for more 'all-in-one' style online stores that offer the following differentiators:

* Attractive Price
* Wider Range of Products (More like a Shopping Superstore)
* Trusted, Strong Customer Service

Bearing these factors in mind, take a look at an online store such as AbtElectronics.com and you will see exactly what I mean. Offering products ranging from small appliance, tv/audio, communications, furniture and everything else between right through to white goods.

Kicked off in 1936, AbtElectronics.com is a successful and respected old world store that has not only made a successfully transition to an online store, but they offer the attractive points I mentioned above.

You can buy anything from a washer through to a camcorder or latest DVD Recorder and know the delivery, on-going support and warranty is through a trusted, well established company. The relationship grows and naturally you are comfortable buying the majority of new purchases through such a business.

A pleasure to deal with, AbtElectronics.com comes highly recommended and I am sure they are going to see a tonne of growth as they are offering a wide ranging service that is really needed in the next phase of online transaction growth.

Million Dollar Facebook Network

The challenge starts today. I have created a new Facebook profile, totally fictive, utterly attractive.

I have attempted to make my fictive man attractive to total strangers (of both sexes!) and with some creative profile tweaks - my goal is to add at least 50 new friends to this profile every day for the next 7 days.

You see most people who have built a 'real' FB profile make it a personal Facebook profile and this is not ideal for marketing. You don't really want to or shouldn't be marketing and pimpin' stuff to your immediate friends, family and old time friends. It just doesn't add up.

Thats where the 'mystery man' comes in. You see if I can get tonnes of friends into a network quickly the possibilities are extremely numerous and potentially lucrative.
Not only blog marketing and promotion, but other avenues such as direct affiliate marketing, list building, FB application sales / promotion and even selling the complete Facebook profile on a site such as DigitalPoint.Com or SitePoint.Com.Facebook accounts filled with large amounts of active friends are attractive to others also.

Care is needed when doing this as Facebook just like MySpace and other social networks do have checks in place to see people that are adding friends too fast. I have verified my Facebook account to a pre-paid cell phone which makes friend adding much quicker (as it removes the verify tags on every friend request) and once joining a few large Facebook Groups in my targetted niches - finding and adding friends is a very fast and simple process.

Two important points to remember - make sure your profile 'looks and feels' real. Add a few photos, write some meaningful interests and text and finally when you introduce yourself to 'unknown' friends - make the intro comment creative. Something like 'we know a few of the same people' or I am new to Facebook and trying to meet new friends...

I have created a new account, totally populated its profile, added photos and I have requested add's from something like 75 people all in under 60 minutes... Not bad eh? More updates soon, on the amount of friend requests accepted and rejected.

John Chow Graphs show path to Success

I stumbled on a website today John Chow Graphs that is a clear, concise and visual record of the uber success the Chow man has seen since launching his blog in late 2006.

Kicked off by a smart entrepreneur, the visual record of the
John Chow success is a good motivator and teacher for anyone willing to look and learn. (It saves you having to visit John's site and wade through posts about mattresses and other promotions!) (Sorry John had to be said!)

Displaying graphs and information from when John Chow kicked his blog off in late 2006 when he was earning a tiny $300 just from AdSense, this new graphical site tracks and discusses the John Chow journey until present day - where he is now earning $27,000+ from advertising and other means on his popular blog.

I was really impressed with this new idea, (also impressive was the designers idea to gently embed some AdSense units into this new graphical site to turn a profit, a smart way of capitalizing on the John Chow name and success!) I immediately thought this must be a brainchild of John Chow - capitalizing on another method to bring more success.

But no, this new John Chow Graph site was designed and developed by the guy behind
365tofreedom.com a blog I just checked out and I must say I was also impressed with his super smooth blog design and nice content. This is certainly a guy I will be subscribing too!

What to take away from the John Chow Graphs site is not only the motivation and belief factor, that blogs do infact make good money - but also 'how' it was done. Many online guru's will tell you 'content is king' and while in some instances this is true. In many successful blogs, it doesn't play a part.

My opinion on the key to making decent money from a blog is to ensure the following:

- Blog Promotion.
Because promotion = traffic. (Get your lame butt on social sites, forums and advertise everywhere to get visitors through your doors)

- Blog, Monetize Well. The right ads, placed correctly and maximize earnings. Easier said than done, but Chow is the master of this. Even way back in the early days, you can read how Chow was fiddling with his AdSense sizes, placement and blending with the site.

Whether you like sites like Digg.com, Sphinn or other social sites - they do work. I took John Chow's advice from one of his posts earlier this week and went hard at digging a recent article, the result was a traffic spike of 500 hits. Something good content hasn't been able to bring alone.

Promote baby, promote!

Thank You and Welcome New Readers

Thanks to everyone for their positive comments on the digg.com article, we all had a few laughs and the little story about the various breeds of digger received a stack of digg's, stumbles and a traffic spike of 500 visitors! My bounce rate is at 69%, New Visits up to 79% and the average time on the 30 Day Man site is over 1 minute, 10 seconds. All improvements.

To those who visited and signed on to the RSS feed, it's hard to tell you the exact niche of this blog. I often try to ask myself this question and with a slogan of 'blogging to win' it doesn't make it any easy. (I can just see Darren Rowse and friends shaking their heads already)

But anyway, apart from bagging the crap out of weirdos from digg; I like to throw in some personal stories from my day to day life. Hey, it's not too boring - what about my Stolen Nokia 6680 post from last week!? I start a new job, go out for drinks on Friday of Week 1 with work colleagues, get blind drunk, fall asleep in a park, have my Nokia stolen and then play detective to capture the thief. True Story.

I've recently moved from Australia to New Zealand for a period of about 12 months, moving from Sydney with a population of around 6 million to small New Zealand tourist town of about 50,000 people is a scary freakin move. Yup. In Sydney I was working in Corporate Telecommunications Sales and would liase with some of the larger multi-nationals in town.

Now I am contracting to Vodafone, helping businesses with an employee size smaller than my family try and get the right telco deals. BIIIIIG Change.

But hey, I am trying to make this work. I've traded the corporate, fast paced lifestyle with little time to spare - for a beer in the afternoon, blog more to make extra money and a poverty stricken lifestyle... Totally cool.
So welcome new visitors! Glad to have you onboard. I am thinking of new content ideas for the blog all the time, I am keen on adding more videos for soon and they say SEX SELLS (got your attention?) - but my wife got pissed off when I asked her to pose for a few strip tease YouTube videos.. So that idea is out.

I know times are tough when I am already hoping that my 1 year old daughter Chelsea Joy will be so successful that daddy can retire! God I hope she becomes the next tennis or golf star or even a supermodel ! :) ... I will just make sure to warn her off blogging.

Cheers, Adam - asutcliffe@gmail.com

8 Breeds of Digger: When Nerds Attack on Digg.com

It happens quickly. Like a savage shark mauling or a crocodile attacking in it's hostile native territory. Digg rape is a scary and real prospect for internet authors and personalities.

A pack of fierce and savage nerds, the 'digg' variety are a vicious race, attacking from the realms of their castle, inside the borders of digg.com

This latest episode all started yesterday when a Digg user posted this article, asking:

"Whats the relevance now of high profile blogger John Chow and his mate Shoemoney, and does anyone still read their blogs?"

The question was about blogger John Chow, who had insultingly used and abused the digg system some 12 months previous, ruthlessly launching his Blog into cyber stardom from his evil blackhat digg exposure techniques.

So yesterday when this question was posted on digg.com, it started what was to become a digg feeding frenzy, angry nerds foamed at the mouth and slammed their keyboards with scrawny fingers of rage. Coke spewed everywhere and
spilled on khaki pants around the globe.

Here's how Digg users commented, with an editorial note under each
explaining the various breeds of 'Digg' users.

Digger Species 1: 'Thugs': "Who the fuck is John Chow, and how many of the above commenters are bots, or were compensated to post here? I never understood why anyone reads those blogs."

Editor: This is classic full frontal Digg attack. The less intellectual and physically stronger nerd lunges into the pre-emptive attack using naughty words like: Fuck. Then finishes having really not made much of a point and makes way for a secondary wave of digg troops
to attack.

Digger Species 2: 'Know All, Fat Nerd': "There are hundreds of thousands of bloggers who want to figure out the secret to getting lots of traffic to their lousy blog with little interesting content. A whole crop of blogs have achieved great success by appealing to those people. There's no secret. Write good articles, do some BASIC search engine optimization, get on the various indexing/feed sites, and continue to write good content."

Editor: This is a very common form of digg species, following closely behind the 'full frontal' troops, this digger numbers many and adopts a form of 'I know it all, I can achieve anything because I am a legend in my own lunchtime at mummies house'. These specimens usually jump into an attack after they are sure they have the numbers and will closely follow up a 'full frontal' attack.

Digger Species 3: Inbred Redneck: "Who cares what those geeks do? There are more important things in life than wondering what some ugly bald person is writing about"

Editor: This is getting real nasty now, referring to the previously uber-Chubby Shoemoney: This random inter-bred type of 'digg' species is struck by boredom and feels the vibes of a 'riot' style attack and quickly gathers to join and enjoy a group attack. Random intellect, various dialects and utterly confident in the safety of their borders and amassed troop numbers, they eagerly herd and assault from all directions.

Digger Species 4: Godfather: "Fuck blogs! Blogs are the fucking AIDS of the internet. bloggers are just fucking shitbags whining about not making money for typing three sentence paragraphs every two months."

Editor: When these guys enter, now things get extremely scary for the victims. A fierce 'Godfather' breed of digger wades into the attack and attempts to savagely beat any remaining life and dignity out of the victim or victims. This type of digger uses their aggressive manner to slap the victim hard and assert their prowess and control over other diggers. Craving and sometimes commanding respect amongst their digger allies.
However on this occasion, the 'Godfather' was stung in a hit by fellow digger mafia bosses . In an internal nerd boss struggle, this Godfather wanna be was 'buried' by his enemies, a digg term for 'killing off' their foes.

Digger Species 5: Seinfeld's: "It's Bush's fault"

Editor: At last, some small relief for the victims. A 'Jerry Seinfeld' breed of digger throws himself into the previously out of control bashing. A random and unpredictable species of digger, the 'Seinfeld' can at times be the only hope for victims. They create confusion and ill-direction amongst other breeds of digger and this hesitation and topic change can sometimes allow a few victims to escape with their life, albeit bashed within inches of.

Digger Species 6: Script Kiddies: "The day i read John Chow reviewing a MATTRESS i said ok, that's enough."

Editor: Frantically trying to keep the group bashing mentality afloat, a new digger throws in some hostile and directed words into the fray, trying to spark the continuation of the assault. A late comer to the riot, these are generally younger 'digglings' or the children of the digg breed sometimes referred to as 'kiddies' 'newbs' 'n00bs' or even 'bs mofos'. They will usually wade into battles when the victims are near unconscious or well subdued by their older digg family members.

Digger 7: Random Nobodies: I think that Bloggers must maintain its posts quality, or people will go to another place, but it's not my problem, so i don't care about it.

Digger 8: Random Nobodies:No, i stopped reading blogs og those persons...they talked about agloco,a big scam of the net! You are right, their words are only bla bla bla

Editor: It seems in this case, the injection of the Jerry Seinfeld digger several comments previous, has virtually saved the life of the victims. Heavily savaged, limbs broken and faces bloodied - the victims were able to scurry away into the blogging slums, as the 'digg' attackers were confused and preoccupied with illegible, off-topic and rarely decipherable comments from 'nuff nuff' diggers.

These are the lowest form of 'digger' - regularly spamming and multiplying they infect and ruin the general direction and creed of digg. You see, these 'nuff nuffs' tend to work alone and have no idea of the chaos and confusion they can cause when they feed off the likes of a Seinfeld breed of digger and make senseless, off-topic and embarrassing comments usually in a language only known by themselves.

............ So tread carefully my friends, digg rape is a scary and real prospect. And you will never be the same again.

How to Outrun Police Easily

Sick of traffic fines, ever wondered how hard it would be to outrun the Police on the open road? Well maybe you need to get your hands on one of these.

A couple of guys in Arizona, USA push their top of the line Lamborghini up to 219 miles per hour (which is the equivalent of 352 kph in the other scale) on the 202 Freeway Loop.

Watch the YouTube video I have embedded below to get a feel for the scary speeds these guys achieve. The cabin noise and vibration is non existent, but noise and effect from outside the car on the road side are unbelievable. Watch as they pass other cars like they are standing still.

They wouldn't have worried about cops in the slightest, because the Police wouldn't have even seen them at this speed, let alone be able to catch them.

SEO: Google Top 3 in under 10 minutes

For most Bloggers trying to get content into the higher realms of Google and other search engine listings; using social media services such as Digg, Technorati and Reddit are the norm these days as the drive and battle for exposure and more traffic continues and gets harder.

While many of us know the power of video and it's advantages as a content delivery format, it seems many of us don't realize how powerful video is as an SEO tool to drive their content up the rankings and achieve huge exposure.

I got an affiliate style email the other day with a heading that really caught my attention. It read "Top Copyrighter goes Google #3 in under 10 minutes, watch the free video". While for once I did actually read the marketing email and was quite interested, I am always so skeptical of these types of promotions and products.

Thankfully, I did go and view the video and eventually signed up for the $1 trial offer and what I found was a great system that actually submits your video content automatically to over 35 video / YouTube style sites.

Where the power lies is in the description and title of your video, and the quick backlinks from over 35 reputable video sites - sending waves of link juice and Google kudos your way. I've linked to the video below, watch and prepared to be blown away: (Internet Guru Frank Kern reviews the program and gives a thumbs up after his test run produces awesome results)

http://www.TrafficGeyser.com/fk/

What they achieved:

- A Google #3 position in 10 minutes

- 6 out of 10 positions on Google's first page in less than a day
- And "pushed" Frank's video to hundreds of video sites, podcast directories, social bookmarking sites and blogs in MINUTES

I am not pimping this for affiliate reasons or anything, this is simply a powerful way to get the traffic coming in (that works) and it really is very straightforward.

As a blogger, it's well worth checking out.
Once you have tried it, I would love to hear your feedback and anyone else already using it, or in the TrafficGeyser.com program - let us know how you have found it so far.

Add this to your planner to succeed daily

I've been hearing lots of tips and recommendations from all sorts of places lately about what you should do to 'get ahead' or 'succeed' in your daily routine. Things like 'Positive Thinking', 'Prioritizing' and 'Delegating or Out-Sourcing' but after examining my routine, and reading some interesting blog posts on the topic of getting more from your day ..... I think I have found the answer.

Firstly, let me quickly run you through my routine.

A day in the life of an aspiring internet entrepreneur. (I work full time, and work the Internet when possible)

7am -
Alarm on my mobile phone goes off, I am usually already stirring by this time because my little one (14 months old) is generally awake and chatting away in her cot. Sometimes I might snooze the alarm until 7.15 or 7.30 at the latest - but thats rare. I'll jump up and make some breakfast. This is usually 4 slices of wholemeal toast with butter and peanut butter smothered over them. Drink varies, from sometimes a glass of Orange Juice, a cup of Sprite or maybe a Cup of Tea. (Pretty Boring, Sadly)

8am -
Since moving to this new town, my home is only 10 minutes from the city and my workplace. So I will usually leave home around this time drift off into thoughts about the day as I drive into work.
8.30am -
Work officially starts for the day. My role as a Vodafone Business Consultant generally requires a lot of 'out in the field' and customer visits; but as I am new, training, in-house customers and exams have been the norm. So upon arriving at 8.30am I will check my Bloglines Reader for the latest overnight happenings and articles (scan through, and only read the decent ones). Then I will check my Gmail for any overnight mail. (scan through the affiliate marketing stuff, see if anything interesting is there). I will also fire up my MSN Messenger at this time and touch base with business contacts and sometimes a family member from overseas will try and grab my attention.

9.30am - 5pm
This is prime work time. I am in a sales based role, so it's heavily commission based. Slack work means low pay, so I will try and make plenty of cold calls, arrange appointments and close any existing customers in this period. Will usually get a quick lunch break (sometimes drive-thru and sometimes home made (rare) in the middle of the day.

5pm - 7pm
With this being a small town, I will usually get home by 6pm. (This is a dream compared to my previous life in Sydney. Back home, 1.5hrs in peak hour traffic was norm and living miles from the Sydney CBD meant 7pm+ arrival times - not cool when you want to see your little baby before she goes off to bed each night) - Only upside was the earnings were double in Sydney... Man I miss the cash too. But here in my new town, this period is usually to have some dinner, spend time with the family and maybe sneak in a wine or a beer where possible.

7pm-10pm
Baby is usually off to bed by this time, I will be spending some time with my wife relaxing (but generally thinking of new ideas online. Ventures, Additional Blog Sites for Ad earnings, Traffic Gen, Social Networks and all the geeky stuff). My wife can usually tell when I am distracted, and sometimes I will get the Laptop out and work wirelessly from my lounge chair. Lately I have been getting tired around this time 10pm - which is really unusual for me. 11pm-2am is usually my best time to lock away and pound the keyboard; but for some reason, maybe its the alcohol, I have been tried and forced to bed around this time. I find when I eat less and drink more sugar based drink (Coke, Sprite, Vee, RedBull) it works a treat. (Mental Note to self: BUY MORE)

10pm-2am
Prime time. Update all blogs sites (15 sites) mostly turning adsense profit. Write some paid reviews for my 2 main blogs (smorty and payperpost based) and check out new opportunities in the internet world (stay tuned tomorrow for my latest video traffic gen tool discovery). But yeah, this is my main time - usually keep softdrink happening to keep me going and some upbeat music. When I stay up past 10pm my wife won't let me sleep in the same bed with her either -so it's generally sleeping on the bed in my home office. I do get a good night on my own, but miss out on the booty action - which is always a shame.

SOLUTION:
So this is my typical routine! What's missing? PLANNING! The key to succeeding, getting much more done and ultimately achieving goals - making more money, more time with family or friends or more time for your fun! Either way, you've got to plan your day early and live by your diary. Because something has less chance of happening if you DONT schedule it, and even for goals, they are easier to achieve when WRITTEN DOWN and SCHEDULED.

Are you already a diary user? Do you lock things in all the time? Does it work? What do you find helps you get more from the day and ultimately more success?

Stolen Nokia Chase Ends

If you read my post earlier this week about my stolen Nokia 6680 phone, you would know what a saga I have been through - not only having the phone stolen while drunk, but then turning detective and chasing down the culprit.

Anyway, I did manage to find the culprit and thought I had scared him enough to hand over the phone. After initially agreeing to give me back the phone in return for no Police action, the thief met me and said he couldn't get his hands on the phone anymore. (I suspect he had sold or hidden the phone.)

The guy was in his early 20's and your typical jobless loser, a real bum. Even if I took along some standover guys and tried to threaten him physically, I don't even know if any result would come from it.

So I basically told him, give me the phone or $400 replacement cost or I go to the cops. I haven't heard from him since, so I have given the Police the green light to charge him and have begun discussions with Vodafone to have the handset blacklisted (by the IEMI number) so the handset is rendered useless.

Yeah as much as it pisses me off the whole situation, it's a lesson learned from getting too drunk, losing your wits and snoozing dangerously. Man, I could have been kicked or bashed - which would have been a tonne worse obviously. So I won't be getting drunk in a hurry!

My boss has been understanding about the loss of the phone, but obviously I have to either replace it or pass over the value in cash. I do have a Nokia 6680 personally which is a co-incidence, its a cell phone that I brought over here from Australia, but it's locked to the Hutchison 3G network. I've been trying to get this thing unlocked so I can pass it over to the boss as a replacement for 6680 stolen last Friday night. Seems there is a stack of internet sites offering unlocking services, I am not sure how trustworthy they are. Hutch 3G in Australia are supposedly calling me back to see if they can work something out for me.

Getting back to the thief, should I just let the Cops do their thing? Or should I deal out my own form of punishment in the form of hired thugs? Any ideas folks?
